    How to register for an AGTV event on this website


    Click on the event you are interested in registering for under 'Upcoming Events'


    Look for the 'Register' button on the left-hand side of the web page for that event found at the bottom of the list of registration costs - if any.  (If you are registering participation in an AGTV competition for students, there is usually no cost involved)


    NB: School membership does not entitle teachers to individual member rates.


    You will be asked to enter a series of letters for a Captcha security step, which takes you into the registration part of the web page. This is not logging in to the system.


    To access individual member rates, you need to login to the system with your personal email (used on this site) and your password located at the top right-hand corner of the website.




    Trouble Shooting


    If you have forgotten your password, you can request a new one yourself.


    If the system does not recognise your email, you may be using a different one to that recorded on our system. Try a different email. If not, contact the AGTV to ask which email you are registered with on this site. secretary@agtv.vic.edu.au


    You can update your own personal contact details by logging in to the website.


    Registration


    Click on the relevant registration category. Complete the form and look for any final submit buttons after reviewing your registration. If you have registered correctly, you will receive an automatic notification to your email box. 


    An automatic invoice is created, You can pay online or make a bank transfer.


    NB:There is a place for you to enter the school purchase/order no. on the form.


    The system will record the events for which you have registered and paid, so members can look that up at any stage by logging in to the website.


    Payment on the Website with a Credit Card


    Click on the pay online and complete the transaction as a guest on PayPal Express, or your own PayPal account. You don't need to have a PayPal account to use it to pay.  If done correctly, you will receive an automatic receipt of payment  to your email.

    NB: There is a final stage that is sometimes missed, where you need to confirm or submit your payment.


    You can login at anytime to pay outstanding invoices.


    If you pay by bank transfer, the bank details are on the receipt, Please use the AGTV invoice number in this process. After the transfer, please notify the Treasurer that this is completed.  treasurer@agtv.vic.edu.au


    School Payments for Individual Registrations or Individual Memberships


    If the school is paying, you will need to print the invoice to forward The school cannot have access to your personal registration unless you give them your password, which is not good practice. The person is the individual member, not the school. The registration is against your name, not the school. Individual membership is for the person, not the school.


    You could pay for the event yourself and claim it back if your school allows that.


    You could register and write the purchase/order no. afterwards on the form to submit for processing. 


    IMPORTANT: If your school is paying, please follow up on this to ensure it happens within a timely period.


    Suspension of Access to Services


    If after a reasonable period of time payment is not received, access to AGTV services or events may be suspended until payment is received.

     AGTV Years 4 to 9 Poetry Competition

    Details as at 14 March 2022


    This competition is only for students from AGTV member schools.


    Schools to must register their intention of participating. 

    Deadline was extended until: Saturday 9 April 2022.

    If your school missed the deadline and wants to participate, please email poetry@agtv.vic.edu.au.


    Structure of the Individual DaF and Open Sections


    Students select a poem from a list to learn to recite by heart.

    NB: Poems are being finalised and will be forwarded after the close of registrations.


    There are 3 stages of the competition: School, Regional and State Competitions


    1. School Competition - to decide who will compete in the Regional Final in the indivdual sections. Group performances are recorded at the school and submitted for state final judging.


    2. AGTV Regional Final*

    AGTV Regional Finals are supported by the Victorian Government.

    Students compete for individual Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at the Regional Finals.

    Year 4 students only compete at Regional Finals.


    *Regional Finals may be in person or held remotely. It is a local decision.


    3. AGTV State Finals - the final stage with students from across Victoria.

    AGTV State Finals are supported by the Goethe-Institut.

    • Separate Primary and Secondary State Finals for individual sections

    The Secondary State Final will be held on Sat 27th August 2022 - Confirmed


    The Primary State Final will be held on Sat 15th October 2022 - Confirmed


    What do students have to do in the Individual section?

    • Students choose a poem chosen from a list provided by the Committee to learn to recite by heart
    • Schools select students to enter the Regional Final (numbers tbc)
    • Students recite their poem at the Regional Final and are judged using the AGTV critera to compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals
    • Eligible medalists are invited to compete in the State Final

    Eligibility for the Individual DaF and Open competition


    DaF section: There is restricted entry for the DaF Section.  Only students learning German as a new language from classroom exposure at school. Any student whose first or second home language is German or who are current or past students of a bilingual school must enter the OPEN section.


    Open section: Any student may enter the OPEN section.


    NB: It is the responsibility of the classroom teacher to determine the eligibility of students for DaF. Teachers should contact the AGTV if there are any doubts about the eligibility of students.


    What do students have to for the Group section?

    • Video a group performance of a nominated poem in any style.

    Further details about how to submit and by when to follow.


    Eligibility for the Group section

    • The only restriction in this section is that there must be at least 3 members of the group. There can be across year levels, DaF and Open - it is up to the school. A student may compete in one or both of the Group and Individual sections.

    Registration of the school's intention to participate

    • All schools intending to participate in the competition must register their intention to enable planning of Regional Finals. Reminder, this is only for member schools.
    • Nominate one teacher from the school or campus who will be the contact person to complete a registration on this website.

    The details of the contact person will be used to communicate with the school regarding this competition by the Committee and Network Leaders or Regional Final Coordinators.

    Where do I find the poems?


    Poems are being finalised and will be forwarded to the contact teacher from schools registering their participation on this site after the closing date for registrations.


    NB: The classroom teacher is responsible for determining if students are eligible for the DaF section. Teachers should contact the AGTV if they have any doubts about the eligibility of students. 


    Regional and State Finals


    Schools select students to enter the relevant Regional Final for Mainstream, Bilingual or Community Schools. Students at VSL Centres and at Distance Education may also participate in a Regional Final. The Committee allocates schools and VSL Centres to a Regional Final.


    Who can enter a Regional Final?


    Only students learning German at an AGTV member school can enter.


    A student may compete in one Individual (Open or DaF) competition and/or in a Group competition at one Regional Final. 


    Students compete for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in the Individual DaF and Open competitions at the Regional Final.


    Only eligible prize winners in the Individual competitions at Regional Finals progress to the State Final. NB: Year 4 students do not compete in the State Final.

    AGTV Criteria for Judging

    NB: No props. The judges decision if final. No score sheets given out.


    FYI: Years 10 to 12 students may compete at the competition run in alternate years by Monash University and the University of Melbourne.  In 2022, the competition will be hosted by the Monash University. More details tbc.

    Who can enter?

    For Primary Foundation to Year 6 and and Secondary Years 7 and 8 students learning German at an AGTV member school working in groups of 2 or more.


    What do students need to do to prepare an entry?

    1. Students work in groups of 2 or more to produce a puppet play in German.

    2. The length of the play must be a maximum of 2 minutes, but can be much shorter.

    2. The script must be (mostly) in German and must include the essential phrase above.

    3. Practise the performance of the play with the puppets.

    4. Video a performance of the play to submit for school judging.


    Prizes           

    Primary and secondary prizes will be awarded for each year level and/or year level combinations.


    A 'Certificate of Participation' for students will be forwarded to schools registering and submitting entries to print for all students who prepared an entry.

    School Selection of Entries

    Schools run an in-house competition or festival to select a maximum of TWO entries per year level or year level combination to forward for judging at the state final.


    Deadline for receipt of entries: Saturday 3 September or earlier


    Judging of State Final Entries

    Prize winners will be announced in Term 4.


    The AGTV reserves the right to publicly screen and/or upload selected puppet plays to a website for the purpose of inspiring others and reporting on or promoting the competition.

    AGTV Werbespot Competition 2022


    The competition is open to students learning German in AGTV member schools in Years 5 to 12. 


    A maximum of 4 entries per school can be entered for state final judging.


    Individual and group entries accepted.


    Theme for 2022: Postkarten aus DACHL - beliebte Reiseziele


    Scenario: ARD is producing a new series called: Postkarten aus DACHL - beliebte Reiseziele. Choose a target audience (university students, families, professional people etc) and research a suitable holiday destination in DACHL for rest and relaxation.  

    Destinations could be a town, a city, a national park, or a specific place e.g. a fun park, ski resort, a beach etc.


    Task: Produce a 20 to 60 second promotional video highlighting key reasons to visit your chosen destination to persuade the producers to make a full-length program about it. The video clip must include the slogan: Entspannt euch!

    NB: Save the video in an MP4 format.


    Prizes: Werbespot Trophies


    Certificates of Participation will be forwarded to the school for teachers to complete and give to all students producing an entry. However, schools select a maximum of 4 entries per school to forward for state final judging.


    Closing Date: Anytime up until to and including Saturday 3rd September 2022

    AGTV Podcast Competition 2022


    The competition is open to individual and groups or students learning German in AGTV member schools in Years 5 to 12. 


    A maximum of 6 entries per school or campus can be entered for state final judging.


    Individual and group entries accepted.


    Scenario: SBS Radio are planning a new segment called Musik am Montag and have invited students of German to prepare an original podcast about a German song or piece of music from a German-speaking community.


    Task: Individual or groups of students in Years 5 to 12 produce an original podcast in German of three minutes or less about a German song or piece of music from a German-speaking community. (Some podcasts will be well under 3 minutes.)

    The podcast could include:

    • information about your selected song or piece of music including its genre
    • background information about the singer or band or composer
    • opinions about the song/ music as well as the singer or band or composer
    • recommendations for future listening which could be another artist

    !!! There are other Conditions for Preparation of Entries incl. being mindful of copyright. These are outlined on the Competition Details, which can be downloaded from the AGTV member website under Competitions for Students via the link below.


    Submission of Entries: Each school may select up a maximum of 6 entries per school to forward to the committee for state final judging. The MP3 or MP4 file/s are forwarded by the teachers with student and school entry forms to a dedicated email address for state final judging.

    Entries accepted anytime up to and including: Saturday 8th October 2022

    Prizes: Trophies & Certificates.  Prizes will be awarded across year levels.

    Kunst und Poesie 2022


    This competition is only open to students learning German at AGTV member schools.


    Artist in Focus: Hundertwasser


    For students from Foundation to Year 6 (see Categories below)


    There are 3 elements to this competition. Students need to -

    • create an artwork or 3D model in any medium (not photography) inspired the artist.
    • write a brief artist's statement about the artwork in English or German
    • compose an Elfchen or Akrostichon poem in German in response to the artwork or Hundertwasser

    It is often a cross-curriculum collaboration between the teacher/s of German and the teacher/s of Art.

    School Selection of Entries


    Schools run an in-house competition (and exhibition*) to select a maximum of TWO entries per year level from Foundation to Year 6 to forward for judging at the state final.


    Selected students complete a Student Entry Form which includes obtaining permission from the parent/carer.  This form is retained at the school.


    *The Committee recommends the school hold their own exhibition and award prizes and certificates to make German visible.


    Electronic Submission of Entries


    Teachers-

    • register the participation of the school in the competition here (can be done anytime)
    • photograph or scan the selected artworks, poems and artist statements and save with the name and year level of the student e.g. 4-Angela-Merkel-artwork
    • complete the School Entry Form - download from the competitions web page
    • forward the entries and school entry form  to the AGTV on the competition email.

    DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES


    Entries accepted anytime up until: Saturday 3rd September 2022


    A 'Certificate of Participation' for students will be forwarded to schools rfor all students completing an entry for the school competition.


    Images of entries may be displayed at AGTV events, published in SZENE and as a digital exhibition on a website.


    Judging of State Final Entries


    Prizes are awarded in all year levels. Winners will be announced in Term 4.


    The AGTV reserves the right to display entries at events or on a public website to inspire others and report on or promote the competition.

    AGTV Song des Jahres 2022


    Write and Record an original Song in German


    There are two elements to this competition:
    • Compose and record an original song in the German language
    • Design an original cover for the single
    NB: Students must be careful when using text, music or images from third parties and ensure they do not infringe copyright.
    Who can enter?

    Individuals or groups of students (max. 6) from AGTV member schools can enter.


    Registration of Participation

    Each teacher registers the participation of their student/s  in the competition, so any notices can be forwarded directly to the classroom teacher.

    Each entry includes:

    • an MP3/MP4 recording of the song
    • a copy of the lyrics
    • a single cover file 
    • a student entry form

    The school also completes one school entry form.

    • Other prizes as determined by the judging panel

    Selected songs may be uploaded to a website and/or broadcast publicly at an event or on public radio.

    What does the competition involve?


    1. Choose to enter one or both sections:

    • Section 1:  OPEN Choral Performance of any song in German and/or
    • Section 2:  Weihnachts- oder Volkslied

    2. Arrange for the performance of the song to be filmed and sent to the AGTV:

    • Teachers video the performance in 2022
    • Save as an MP4 file
    • Forward the film to the AGTV for short-listing and judging.

    NB: Teachers will need to seek approval from the Principal to participate and gain permission from families to video the students for this competition. The AGTV will upload winning entries to the VIMEO website and may screen it at events.

    AGTV Schreibwettbewerb 2022


    The competition is open to students learning German in AGTV member schools.


    Theme for 2021: Personal or imaginative writing in response to an image


    Task: Produce an original piece of personal or imaginative writing in German in response to an image* provided. It could be a diary entry, letter, poem (e.g. Elfchen), short story or any other text type relevant to personal or imaginative writing.


    *The image is on the 'Competition Details' file to download.


    Schools select 6 entries per school or campus for state final judging.


    Authentication: Schools must make a declaration that the entries are the students' own work.The Committee recommend making this a task for class to facilitate authentication. Teachers may provide some assistance in the drafting process but the writing should be the student's work.

    Prizes: Medals, certificates and small prizes


    Certificates of Participation: will be forwarded to the school for teachers to complete for all students who produce an entry for school selection.

    Register school participation on this website.


    Select 6 entries for state final judging.


    Download the Parent Permission form from the Competitions for Students page (link above) and complete for selected entries. Retain these forms at your school.


    Download and complete the the School Entry Form.


    Forward the 6 entries selected with the Authentication of Student WorkSchool Entry forms to the dedicated email address listed on the school entry form.


    Prize winners will be announced in Term 4.

    About this lounge: Tina Wilkinson will share how she has used the online tool Flipgrid in junior and senior classes for speaking practice, feedback and collaboration incl. a practical demonstration. Flipgrid is free to use and a popular tool in education.
